Ulong Ex-Services Club

Club Facilities

Then…..

The butcher, bakers and candlestick makers every able-bodied man volunteered to help build the club. Not forgetting the ladies, always there with country cooking and hospitality. The timber came from the Seccomb’s Upper BoBo Mill; Allan Whitney supplied logs together with some of the Forestry. Lyle Timms cut the floor at Brooklana. The original club remained until May 2003 when a fire destroyed the building.

…..Now

After the fire, the community rallied behind the club to raise funds and help with the rebuilding efforts. Generous time, machinery and monetary donations started with the demolition and site excavation, to timber cutting and milling, right through to lightfittings and furniture, as well as regular community working bees.

After nearly two years of operating from the Ulong Community Hall, the new Ulong Ex-Services Club reopened in April 2005, with entertainment and fun for all. Details will be provided closer to the date.

Since then, the club has again become a focal point for the Ulong and district community. The 250+ members regularly come and relax, have a drink and a meal at The Bistro. With live entertainment and events that bring our community together. The club employs only local residents helping the employment in the district.

With a recently remodeled gaming room and extension to the covered deck so we can cater for a larger numbers allowing more to enjoy the facilities on offer.
