The Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge is now in it’s 15th year.

Trek 1 is a specific KYLC Trek for young managers in Clubs, club industry suppliers
and club industry associations. This will run from TBC and is open to staff up to 35 years old.

Trek 2 is our annual KYLC Trek for young people from a disadvantaged background, unemployed young people in the community, outstanding local community leaders or those with a strong family military connection, is available for young people 16-25 years old.
It will be run during the NSW September School holidays, TBC.

67 young people participated in the 2017 Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge over three treks, 7th – 18th August,  23rd & 24th September – 4th & 5th October 2017.

The leadership program aims to create a greater awareness of the sacrifices of the diggers
on the Kokoda campaign among our young people to ensure the traditions live on.
At the same time it instills in participants a commitment to community service,
enhance their personal development by providing an opportunity for them to experience
the same conditions under which our diggers fought and hopefully transform them
for future leadership roles back in the community.

In TBC, all nominated Trekkers MUST attend a KYLC Trek Workshop being held at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Club in Sydney on TBC, from 12.00 noon – 4.00pm.

This workshop assists trekkers and their families to understand the enormity of the challenge they are to undertake and to assist with their plans.
