The RSL & Services Clubs Association, in partnership with our colleagues at Leagues Clubs Australia, is proud to announce the return of the partnership with Lifeline to promote the “Accidental Counsellor” Program for Club staff, Directors and local community services agencies. We were trying to get this program started in February/March but COVID forced its cancellation. The “Accidental Counsellor” is a four-hour workshop focusing on the core skills necessary to engage with a person struggling to cope with their day-to-day life, due to stress, mental health issues, domestic violence, substance abuse or other crises.

Automatic cover is when you get accepted for a certain amount of insurance cover automatically on joining the fund, without any medical assessment. Recently, the government changed the laws, so some members don’t qualify for automatic insurance while other members have lost the insurance cover they had.

Gladesville RSL Club has recently presented three cheques from their Club Grants Funds to the CEO of the RSL & Services Clubs Association, Garrie Gibson. The Club has made a $4000 donation to the charity arm of the Association, the Veterans Benevolent Fund, to assist veterans services across the State. The Club has also decided to sponsor a young person from the Gladesville area to join the Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge in 2021. The Association is hopeful that circumstances will allow the KYLC to happen in September 2021. This will be the first time that Gladesville RSL has sponsored a trekker.
