C.ex Group celebrates 70 years in the community!

This year, C.ex Coffs (formerly Coffs Ex-Services Club) celebrates its 70th anniversary of what is known today as the C.ex Group. While the world may have changed over this time, the commitment and core focus of the C.ex Group has not – it exists for the community.

C.ex Group is celebrating the diverse stories of its’ members, the values that they share and the history that has been created. Their 70th Anniversary Gala Ball will be held tonight to commemorate this momentous achievement, celebrating the vision, hard work and dedication of board members, managers and staff past and present and will be a highlight of 2019 for the C.ex Group.

The club has also undertaken major renovations this year with construction scheduled for completion within the next month. The renovations will provide the club with a new foyer and reception area in Vernon Street and four new dining options including a steakhouse restaurant, tapas kitchen & rooftop bar, Italian restaurant and an Italian café. With relevance being an important priority for the club to ensure a successful future, these renovations will provide C.ex Coffs with an exciting point of differences, operating the first rooftop bar on the Coffs Coast!

John Rafferty, CEO of C.ex Group said, ‘Ribeye Rooftop Bar & Kitchen will open on August 29 and we have already received a high volume of members wishing to reserve a table or book for a special occasion’.

The restaurant boasts a relaxed coastal feel, which is completely different to any other outlet at the club. The steakhouse will open for a lunch and dinner service whilst the tapas kitchen will open from midday till late.

The Italian outlet, Papaveros, will feature a fully serviced restaurant and a cafe open from 9am to cater for the morning coffee run. The cafe will also provide fresh pastries, grab and go meals and an assortment of hot and cold beverages and will operate from 9am til late Mondays through to Fridays and from 10am on Saturdays. The restaurant will offer a premium dining experience with selection of fresh pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven, delicious pastas, Italian style a la carte meals and a classic dessert menu. Not to mention the variety of beverages on offer, including a delicious cocktail menu.

With the addition of their new food outlets, their team of talented chefs led by Head Chef, Greg Watkins has been busy planning, testing, tasting and designing new menus to offer patrons. The quality of food being produced showcases the great talent of kitchen teams and the extensive, international training they bring to the region.

The vision for future developments includes accommodation, an apartment complex and improving the club’s entertainment facilities.

It’s an exciting time for the C.ex Group with the commencement of the 70th celebrations and the wider community is encouraged to join the celebrations! The group’s $70k in 70 days promotion is currently running across all three venues, with the final draw night fast approaching where one lucky member will walk away with a guaranteed $50,000 cash! Other prizes including cash, TVs, iPads, gift cards and more will also be given away at the major draw on Saturday 31 August – see their website for more information.

The Board and Management is extremely excited to welcome guests to their 70th Anniversary Gala Ball tonight where a presentation of their historic 70 years will be played as well as entertainment by Byron Bay’s big band, SOUL’D.

C.ex Group’s 70th Anniversary celebrations will conclude with a Beers Through the Years promotion during the last week of August where flash back prices on beer will be offered at all three venues! Prices for a middy of beer will revert back to the old decade prices, starting at just 20c in the 40s through to $3.50 in 00s – terms and conditions apply.

Supporting the community is an integral part of the C.ex Group’s mission and values. In the past year the group has provided support to more than 130 organisations and charities and continues to engage with the community through the C.ex Community Crew volunteers. The group recently wrapped up their 2019 C.ex Community Crew Sleepout campaign which saw the local community rally together to sleepout, raising awareness and funds for homelessness. To date, the annual sleepout event has raised $284,820 to combat homelessness on the Coffs Coast, including $70,000 raised at the 2019 event which was equally distributed between to two local service providers, Warrina Women’s Refuge and the Men’s Resource Centre. C.ex Group would like to sincerely thank all those who participated in and donated towards this year’s event, without your support and efforts the event would not be the success that it is.

C.ex Group is proud of their achievements and journey to date and the momentum being built for the next 70 years. They look forward to welcoming members and guests to all C.ex Group venues in the next few months to showcase their diverse range of facilities, new and old and exceptional customer service standards.
