Parramatta’s new purpose-built hospitality venue
Parramatta in Sydney’s western suburbs boasts the second largest economy in NSW and the City of Parramatta is fast becoming Sydney’s alternative CBD. An increasing number of businesses, students and residents are choosing to settle in the suburb and the forecast population is set to rise over the next 20 years by 150 percent. To the people currently residing in Parramatta this comes as no surprise, they have known for a while that Parramatta is a great place to live, work, and play.
One Club ensuring that it remains not just relevant, but an integral part of this future growth is Parramatta RSL. Following the amalgamation with Castle Hill RSL in 2008, a long-term strategic plan was developed for the current club site and it was decided the best option was to demolish and rebuild the old facility, replacing it with a purpose-built hospitality and leisure venue, one that would service the needs of the membership and wider community.
Parramatta has changed significantly over the past five years, due to residential, educational, commercial, infrastructure and transport plans currently being implemented by both the private sector and the NSW Government, so this hospitality project needed to be designed to meet the expectations of tomorrow’s customers. The Development Application for this site was particularly complex, given the site borders the World Heritage listed Parramatta Park. The final design took into consideration the concerns of all relevant stakeholders and addressed all operational and compliance issues to deliver what will be a hospitality, leisure and entertainment venue that will service the requirements for everyone that utilises the venue.
The new venue will offer members and guests a restaurant, bar, café, events centre, multipurpose function space, open-air roof top function centre and children’s play zone. There will be over 70 metres of outdoor decks and entertainment space, with state-of-the-art lighting and amenities. This venue will become an iconic Parramatta destination.
The focus of the new venue will be food and beverage, including a brasserie, pizzeria, noodle and dumpling house and café. The café will include everything from food options for the office worker that is “on the move” through to “special night out” dining. The roof-top bar will be a real attraction and will feature giant video screens for those special sporting moments and a tapas bar.
It is expected that construction will be complete in late-2019.
Parramatta has a very bright future and Paynter Dixon is proud to be an active participant in the design and construction of this purpose-built hospitality venue.
