Saunders Safety & Training – Mental Health First Aid Training

Approximately 20% of Australian Adults experience a common mental illness each year; it is the single largest contributor to reduced years lived in ill-health and the third largest contributor to a reduction in total years of healthy life for Australians. In the workplace; we see a typical psychological workers compensation cost approximately $24,500 on average compared to physical injuries (approx. $9,000 per claim on average). If an adult is not directly affected by a psychological health problem themselves, the chances are they will know someone who is. Mental Health in the community is a hot topic on the agenda at a federal government level, all the way down to the common household level. Mental Health impact on the workplace is not lost in this spectrum.

Saunders Safety & Training have identified the need of the community to become more proficient and confident in assisting those who are affected by a mental health disease or problem. In August 2019; we partnered with Mental Health First Aid Australia to facilitate our inaugural ‘Mental Health First Aid Training’ – a two day nationally accredited course providing practical information about key mental illnesses and first aid processes which can be applied to someone experiencing Depression, suicidal ideation, Anxiety including panic attacks, Psychosis including severe psychotic episodes, and effects of alcohol or substance disorder. Upon course completion, participants received a nationally recognised certificate and qualification as a Mental Health First Aider; provided by Mental Health First Aid Australia. The inaugural training session was sold out within a week of being marketed to our clients such is the demand within workplaces for this form of upskilling and training.

As such, Saunders Safety & Training are proud to advertise and market our second session of training; taking place at Woonona-Bulli RSL Club on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 November 2019.

Tickets are available at a discounted rate of $430 per head which includes all course materials, facilitation and catering over the 2 days. Tickets and further information pertaining to the course can be found at the following web-link:
