Securing our veterans’ future
The NSW Club Industry has a proud tradition of supporting veterans and their families. That’s why the RSL & Services Clubs Association, ClubsNSW and the NSW Government have joined forces to create Securing Our Veterans’ Future – a program that connects veterans to suitable employment opportunities within registered clubs.
There are currently more than 57,000 military personnel serving within Australia’s armed forces. The coming decade will see more young Australian combat veterans in our community than at any time since the end of the Vietnam War.
Securing Our Veterans’ Future focuses on empowering veterans through economic opportunity. The program recognises that the transition from military to civilian life is not without challenges, and seeks to ensure that veterans are embraced by the broader community upon military retirement.
The program allows veterans to benefit from the flexibility inherent in most club operating models. Many of the skills and qualities military personnel possess- such as leadership, loyalty, teamwork and integrity – are also highly valued by not-for-profit, registered clubs.
Above all, Securing Our Veterans’ Future enables veterans to continue to serve Australian society, albeit in a new and different way.
Securing Our Veterans’ Future is aimed at contemporary veterans who wish to:
- Embark on a new career;
- Gain valuable skills and/or work experience; or
- Undertake meaningful employment while studying or considering their next career move.
- The program is also open to the spouses of current ADF members or contemporary veterans.
